Jacquard N°97 Speciale Caterina Cornaro

Jacquard N°97
This year marks the 120th anniversary of the Arte della Seta Lisio (1906-2026) and what better way to celebrate this important milestone than to publish a ‘Special’ issue dedicated to a brand-new project created in collaboration with the Donizetti Theatre Foundation in Bergamo, which centres on a fascinating female figure: Caterina Cornaro.
This was a highly complex project involving key local institutions, reaffirming a fundamental and now essential modus operandi, in which an interdisciplinary approach enables a central issue to be examined from multiple perspectives.
As a result, we are exposed to a vast and extraordinary cultural heritage, brought to life through the study and research of documentary evidence, and the connections between historical events and myth, as well as between different forms of artistic expression. The worlds of music, stage and costume design, fashion, tailoring, textiles and embroidery, examined with academic rigour whilst pursuing the goal of effectively communicating and bringing to life a particular era, both physically and emotionally. Forging close ties between people, places and institutions brings memories to life, giving substance and meaning to our very existence.
