ECO ART Project Digital R-Evolution for Sustainability
The University of Urbino Carlo Bo, the Polytechnic University of Marche, SID Srl, the Lisio Foundation for Silk Art, and Marchingegno Srl have obtained total funding of €1,200,000 to implement four projects aimed at providing capacity-building activities and services for cultural operators, with the goal of promoting the digital and green transition.
The University of Urbino Carlo Bo, supported in particular by the Urbino e la Prospettiva Centre, serves as the lead partner of the consortium. The projects are funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), promoted by the Ministry of Culture, within Mission 1 – Digitalisation, Innovation, Competitiveness, Culture and Tourism, Investment 3.3 – “Capacity Building for Cultural Operators to Manage the Digital and Green Transition”, Sub-investment 3.3.3 – “Promoting the reduction of the ecological footprint of cultural events by encouraging the inclusion of social and environmental criteria in public procurement policies, thereby guiding the supply chain towards the eco-innovation of products and services” (Action B I).
The partnership is named ECO ART, Digital R-Evolution for Sustainability.
ECO ART includes four projects aimed at promoting the digital and green transition of cultural events.
B1 – Project 1 | Open Green Events Score: 94
Objectives: Development of an ecosystem capable of promoting, supporting, identifying, testing, and developing innovative tools and activities; enhancing existing practices; and fostering collaboration in the creation and experimentation of models and approaches for the digital and green transition.

B1 – Project 2 | Services for Green Events. Score: 93
Objectives: Creation of training services and workshops aimed at developing new professional profiles capable of effectively and efficiently applying digital and green technologies within the field of cultural events.

B1 – Project 3 | Together Towards Green Events. Score: 92
Objectives: Development of an online platform, educational models, practices, and training courses across different fields, including entrepreneurship and management, with the aim of implementing the digital and green transition.
During the project, six educational models, numerous webinars, two 60-hour training courses, and four 30-hour training courses were created, providing cultural operators with new skills and diverse knowledge for managing the digital and green transition, particularly in the organization of cultural events.

B1 – Project 4 | Empower Green Events. Score: 90
Objectives: Dissemination and sharing of educational models and best practices, creation, promotion, and development of networks to encourage the exchange of knowledge and scientific, methodological, managerial, and economic skills, promoting the implementation of CAM (Minimum Environmental Criteria, Ministerial Decree 19/10/2022) to reduce the ecological footprint of cultural events.

The Focus Group aims to provide an initial opportunity for discussion among experts, companies, craft professionals, and users on how museums can represent a driving force for traditional crafts, potentially reinterpreted in light of new challenges related to environmental, social, economic, and digital sustainability.

TRAINING COURSE: Sustainability in the Company: From Organizational Models to the Workplace Environment
Internal corporate sustainability works in a similar way to environmental or social sustainability, but focuses on the impact that companies have on people and on how corporate policies affect the daily lives of employees.
These policies do not only concern organizational structures, inclusion, ethical codes, and compliance systems, but extend further to issues such as workplace safety, diversity, work-life balance, well-being, and internal communication: all essential aspects to consider when aiming to create a fairer and more sustainable work environment.

The Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio, in collaboration with the Parco Archeologico e Antiquarium di Castelseprio, organized a one-day workshop dedicated to ancient weaving and embroidery techniques, aimed at promoting traditional artistic crafts connected to archaeological heritage.

WORKSHOPS: TRAME – Sustainable Interweavings between the Performing Body and Textile Art
Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio and the Polytechnic University of Marche, within the framework of the “Services for Green Events” project, organized two workshops entitled “TRAME – Sustainable Interweavings between the Performing Body and Textile Art”, held on 20 and 21 September in Florence.
👗 The first workshop, “Weaving and Upcycling,” was dedicated to fashion and costume design students, costume designers, and enthusiasts with experience in tailoring. Guided by Ciro Lipari, participants transformed personal garments brought by the performers, creating stage costumes through recycling and reuse practices.
🎭 The second workshop, “Performance and Reuse,” was dedicated to students/performers aged between 16 and 35 with previous experience in theatre or dance. Under the guidance of Simona Lisi, with music by Paolo Bragaglia, participants developed a sensory performance journey exploring the theme of memory connected to the costumes created during the tailoring workshop, using the tools and practices of stage performance.

TECHNICAL WORKSHOP: Digital Technologies and Sustainability. Experiences and Proposals for the Effective and Efficient Preservation and Enhancement of Cultural Heritage. Round table with live streaming and a visit to the Ducal Palace, including a demonstration session on the theme “The Potential of Augmented Reality for the Enhancement of Cultural Heritage.” A dedicated demonstration session was organized to allow participants to understand the effectiveness of immersive augmented and virtual reality technologies in enhancing and promoting cultural heritage.
The objectives of the event were to highlight the importance of developing engaging augmented reality experiences, considering the interaction between users, artworks, and the cultural context.

TRAINING PROGRAMME: Cultural Activities, Digital Services and Sustainability. Interdisciplinary Approaches for the Sustainable Management and Use of Cultural Heritage
The course aims to develop professional profiles capable of managing activities designed to reduce ecological and environmental impact in cultural production processes and events, while also addressing the complex relationship between sustainable practices and the environmental impact generated by the digital industry. The programme, entitled “Cultural Activities, Digital Services and Sustainability. Interdisciplinary Approaches for the Sustainable Management and Use of Cultural Heritage,” consists of 60 hours of training, including both in-person and online activities. The course has a strongly interdisciplinary approach and aims to provide theoretical and practical tools for a comprehensive and well-rounded education.
