The Associazione Secco Suardo has operated since 1991 as a Study, Research and Project Centre, with the aim of stimulating and deepening historical, cultural, technical and scientific research, promoting dialogue on conservation issues with other cultural institutions, and encouraging continuous professional development and discussion on advanced topics and methodologies.

On the occasion of the celebrations for the 500th anniversary of the birth of Giovan Battista Moroni, the Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio celebrates both the birth of the great Bergamo-born painter and the recent agreement with the Giovanni Secco Suardo Association through a study focusing on the clothing and textile aspects of Moroni’s Portrait of the Knight Pietro Secco Suardo (Uffizi Galleries, Florence).

The proposed study is the result of the collaborative work of the teaching staff of the two-year Course in Historical Tailoring and Stage Costume and, specifically, Alessio Francesco Palmieri-Marinoni (clothing and accessories section), Gian Luca Bovenzi (textile section), Paola D’Alena (lace and needlework section) and Lucia Miazzo (metalwork section).

The study is part of the scientific collaboration activities carried out by the Fondazione Lisio with museums, study and research centres, and national and international universities.
