The conference, open to the public with free admission, introduced the course in “Historical and Stage Costume Tailoring” organized and promoted by the Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio of Florence, in collaboration with the Accademia Carrara of Bergamo and with the participation of the Fondazione Franco Zeffirelli Onlus, Social Design, and Atelier Cooperativa Sociale Onlus.

A new course waiting to be discovered
The two-year course “Historical and Stage Costume Tailoring” was presented on Saturday, 26 January 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Villa Sucota – Fondazione Antonio Ratti.
The event provided an opportunity to learn more about and discover this new educational pathway, aimed at the tailoring sector and focused on a newly conceived professional profile that brings together different skills: from the design and creation of stage costumes to the philological reconstruction of historical garments, addressing not only theatre and performance but also historical events, reenactments, fantasy events, and cosplay.
During the conference, the new symbolic garment of the 2019 course was also unveiled: the “Medicea” gown, inspired by the historical clothing depicted in the Gothic frescoes by the Master of the Months of Trento at Castello del Buonconsiglio.
The gown was created by the Fondazione Lisio tailoring workshop and made by Sara Piccolo Paci, who is the course coordinator and lecturer.
