APRITIMODA: alla scoperta del saper fare italiano

The most renowned brands and workshops of artisanal excellence open their doors to reveal the secrets behind the iconic creations of Made in Italy. On 24 and 25 October, discover the finest expression of Italian craftsmanship.

ApritiModa unveils the individual pieces of the mosaic that represents our greatest wealth: Made in Italy. ApritiModa is a journey through Italy to discover these places, these crafts, and this exceptional mastery.

From the manufacturing workshop in Piedmont where the hats made famous by cinema are created, to the laboratory in the heart of old Naples where, among the sounds of sewing machines, leather goods and gloves representing the excellence of Italian craftsmanship are produced. From the atelier in Milan’s Fashion Quadrilateral, where visitors can discover creations renowned throughout the world, to the Tuscan silk mill with the looms that produced brocade collections destined for European royal families. And further down the peninsula, all the way to the oldest textile factory in Calabria.

This is ApritiModa, a unique event of its kind: a weekend during which renowned fashion brands and the finest artisan companies open the doors of their ateliers and workshops to reveal where the iconic creations of Made in Italy are born. Beyond the entrances of historic buildings, inside hidden courtyards, and within former factories brought back to life, the genius, culture, and craftsmanship of our territories become works of art admired throughout the world.

Founded in 2017, the event has brought thousands of visitors to discover the “know-how” that characterises Italian excellence, first in Milan, then in Florence, and finally once again in Lombardy.

This fourth edition involves high-level artisan workshops from almost every region of Italy: a true map of hidden treasures revealed to the public, with the aim of marking a new beginning for one of the most important economic activities in our country.

CULTURE. APRITIMODA in the MIBACT campaign “The Art of Fashion”

ApritiModa, the initiative that allows everyone to discover how the world-famous creations of Made in Italy are made, is featured in the campaign “L’Arte della Moda” (“The Art of Fashion”) promoted by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (MIBACT), and is available on the social media channels of MIBACT and ApritiModa.

“This is an important recognition,” explained Cinzia Sasso, the journalist who has organised this initiative for four years, this year for the first time on a national scale. “We thank Minister Franceschini, who appreciated our project aimed at placing the beauty and craftsmanship of our country at the centre and who, during this complex period, is also helping to reconnect the thread and dialogue between the world of fashion and citizens.”

The “L’Arte della Moda” campaign, presented by MIBACT, aims to enhance valuable and previously unpublished documents and works preserved in the collections of state archives, libraries, and museums. Theatre and dance costumes, fashion sketches, fabric and textile samples, musical band uniforms, drawings, descriptive models, designs, and objects of design will accompany the public throughout the month of October on a “journey through Italy” to discover the art of fashion.

An elegant narrative, colourful or in black and white, that reveals the work, the variety of tools, and the techniques behind the long history of a creative knowledge and artisanal ability that represent defining features of Italy’s identity.
